‚ÄčHello My Name Is...

Mrs. Christy Schultz

I am so excited to begin this school year. As many of you know, I am new to
fifth grade this year after 10 years in third grade. I want you to know that this
is a change I wanted to make. Fifth graders are growing up!
I loved my own children at this age- they were funny, changing, and becoming
their own person. I look forward to teaching and learning fifth grade along with
your child this year.

A little bit about myself...

I live in New Boston with my husband, Chris, and two children. My husband is
an athletic director at a high school in Dearborn. My son, Christopher, will be a
sophomore at Bowling Green State University. This is a whole new level of
"parenting"! My daughter, Catie, will be in eighth grade this year.
She is very involved in volleyball and basketball. I enjoy spending time with my
family, my church and my friends.

After earning a Political Science degree from EMU, I worked in the sales industry
for 10 years. I soon realized that my passion was in the training end of sales,
so I decided to pursue my teaching certification from Concordia University
and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan in Curriculum & Instruction.
This will be my 12th year of teaching and I have loved every minute of it!
My goal is to teach my students to be lifelong learners.
I believe all students can and will learn. We will talk a lot about working harder to become smarter. In order to understand how to challenge my students, I work very hard to discover each child's independent learning style and how to cultivate their intrinsic motivation to learn.  I look forward to working with both you and your child this year.
